What Clients Are Saying
These projects are collaborative and deeply rooted in the life of each church. Here’s what clients have shared about their experience.
“What Christina delivered to St. Andrew’s is a conduit to spiritual connection and appreciation for all who join us for services.”
The Rev. Amy Whitcomb-Slemmer
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Hanover MA
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hanover is the grateful recipient of Christina's vision and artistry. She created an altar frontal, chasuble, stole, hangings for the pulpit and lectern that brings the joy and beauty of nature indoors.
Sparked by a beloved parishioner's bequest, and the hope that this set of green vestments and altar hangings would offer a living legacy, we gathered the altar guild, members of the donor's family and invested time in both sketching out what might look marvelous in our space, as well as what would offer connecting points to our friend, for whom we were still grieving.
Christina was both patient and a wonderful guide to help us understand the impacts of our decisions. She did a wonderful job of both assessing our space - including our stained-glass windows, talking with us about what we hoped to convey and what some of the important symbols and images are for St. Andrew's.
Wellspring Fabricworks has an extraordinary range of beautiful fabrics, and Christina's artistic gifts and skills for embroidery and creating feel spiritually inspired.
Every Sunday that our Green Hangings are used will elicit comments and compliments about their beauty. Christina also did a wonderful job of incorporating our benefactors into her work. Part of the reason that our frontal and hangings and the priest's and deacon's vestments garner comments is because there are beautiful details like lady bugs and hummingbirds woven throughout these beautiful creations.
It is a joy to serve while wearing the vestments that Christina created and that were designed with input from the parish.
I cannot recommend this process and the resulting artistry more. We are eager to engage Christina and Wellspring Fabricworks again for our next step of hanging upgrades and refreshment.
What Christina delivered to St. Andrew's is a conduit to spiritual connection and appreciation for all who join us for services throughout the season of Pentecost. We are grateful, and Christina is both an artist and a joy to work with.
On Investment
The cost was a stretch for our community, especially as we balance ongoing maintenance needs. Some were initially concerned about the size of the investment—but all would now agree the results are invaluable.
This work enhances our parish and inspires joy and gratitude throughout the season of Pentecost.
"Our congregation is inspired by the unique beauty of Christina's creations."
The Rev. Max Wolf
Rector, St. Paul’s Church in Nantucket
I am writing to enthusiastically recommend gifted liturgical artist Christina Laberge of Wellspring Fabricworks for your vestment and altar appointment needs.
Christina is a delight with whom to work and every one of her commissions is unique. She prayerfully studied the details of our sanctuary, stained-glass windows, and other existing elements. She then thoughtfully consulted with our staff, Altar Guild and Vestry before creating an extraordinarily beautiful green altar frontal, veil and burse, stoles, and lectern piece.
We are thrilled with the results, and our congregation is inspired by the unique beauty of Christina’s creations. We were so pleased that we then commissioned white and rose vestments with the same magnificent results.
"Christina’s sharp eye for detail led to a design that blends harmoniously with our worship space.”
Chris Trahan
Senior Warden, St. Stephen’s Memorial Church, Lynn, MA
It was a pleasure working with Christina Laberge in creating a new a white liturgical set for St. Stephen's Memorial Church in Lynn, MA.
She took the time to visit our church, to experience the space that we have here and listened to what the members of the altar guild were hoping for in a new set.
Prepared with color and fabric samples, Christina was able to present choices to the altar guild. She was quick to send impressive design renderings and competitive pricing which convinced the Vestry to commission her work.
Christina's sharp eye for details led to the design of a set that blends harmoniously with the architectural aspects of our worship space as well as resonates with the ecclesiastical moments when white hangings and vestments are used.
You will find Christina's designs to be stellar and her stitch work impeccable.
"I love the artistic work that Christina produces"
The Rev. Canon Gregory Perez
Regional Canon (Northern) of the Diocese of Massachusetts
Christina produced two very elegant stoles for me: a red festive stole and an Advent stole. She was so attentive to my taste, culture, and theology.
She listened well, and the end result for my red stole was one that included symbols of the Southwest and my Indigenous/Mexican culture; the end result of my Advent stole was a stunning royal blue stole with the symbols of the “O” Antiphons, and a beautiful streak of pink to represent Advent III.
The three regional canons received a stole with the region we represent, and the names of all the congregations in their respective deaneries. The tassels on each stole are made by hand! I love the artistic work that Christina produces, and I highly recommend her. Thank you, Christina.
“She cared about creating a design that was truly unique to our space.”
The Rev. Julie Carson
Church of the Holy Spirit, Sutton, MA
Working with Christina was a delightful experience. She came to see our sanctuary so she could pick up any design nuances that could be incorporated into the new paraments, which showed that she cared about making the best unique design for us. I wish Advent were a longer season so we could display the set more!
"A wonderful visual metaphor for Christ’s Resurrection"
Clifford R. Brown
Pastor, Christ's Church, Quincy
"The Episcopal Church in Quincy Center"
Designing and sewing is a skill, and one that many of us no longer possess. Our work with Christina... to create a new set of Easter paraments is a testimony that you can still find crafters in the 21st century that possess the skills to express their creative passions.
Drawing from the intricate art stenciling, windows, and architecture of the sanctuary along with the donor's ideas, Ms. Laberge created “Now the Green Blade Riseth” that celebrates the glorious resurrection of Easter in an abstract design.
Based on the Easter song of the same name, the new frontal, markers, pulpit fall, and stole - in silk dupioni with metallic accents - are a wonderful visual metaphor for Christ’s Resurrection, especially for those of us in the northern hemisphere who live in areas where springtime usually coincides with Easter, the image of growing plants and vegetation speaks clearly.
The textile artistry of Ms. Laberge is both a craft and fine art to the Glory of God.
"Beautifully crafted and deeply personal"
The Rev. Margaret Lias
Deputy Chief of Staff and Administrative Manager, Diocese of Massachusetts
Christina has made three deacon stoles for me, and each one is stunning—beautifully crafted and deeply personal. The level of detail and care in her work is extraordinary.
Just as meaningful is the way she works with you. She came to my home for fittings, and when I later lost a significant amount of weight, she graciously offered to alter the stoles so they would continue to fit well. That kind of attentiveness and generosity is such a gift.
It’s clear to me that this isn’t just work for Christina, it’s her ministry. She understands the sacredness of what she’s creating, and you can feel that in every stitch. I feel truly honored to wear her work.
"Her guidance enabled us to accomplish this project in a manner that was thoughtful, well-crafted and more beautiful than we had anticipated."
The Rev. Melanie McCarley, Rector
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Dedham, MA
St. Paul’s worked with Christina Laberge to craft a set of Advent paraments for our parish.
Christina was extraordinarily helpful throughout the design phase, assisting us in choosing fabrics, laying out a vision, explaining the technical aspects of achieving a long-lasting product and seeing our vision through to completion.
Her guidance enabled us to accomplish this project in a manner that was thoughtful, well-crafted and more beautiful than we had anticipated.
We have been using the paraments for several years, and they never fail to elicit high praise.
"She listens intently to your ideas, and most importantly, she adds in her incredible expertise."
The Rev. Jocelyn E. Collen, M.Div.
Christina is a joy to work with from start to finish! She listens intently to your ideas, and most importantly, she adds in her incredible expertise.
Her work is breathtaking, and she is able to prayerfully create unique and beautiful pieces. I am so grateful to work with Christina, and to be a part of her ministry. Her work is not only a blessing for me, but also for my congregations and the larger community to enjoy.
