Sacred Work, Grounded in Experience
With a Doctorate in Sacred Music (University of Southern California, 2001), I am highly trained and experienced in meeting the needs of a wide range of worship communities.
My work is shaped by more than 35 years of experience within the life of the Church, empowering musicians, supporting worship, and understanding the rhythms, traditions, and language of liturgical spaces.
This deep foundation informs every piece I create. It's what allows me to design with both artistic intention and liturgical integrity.
A Fiber Artist Rooted in the Language of the Church
Using the finest materials and over 30 years of experience, I create liturgical vestments and paraments that are both visually striking and deeply meaningful.
My work draws on techniques such as appliqué and embroidery. I often incorporate symbolic and local flora to create designs that engage the senses richly. I work with high-quality materials including dupioni silk and am continually expanding into specialized techniques such as goldwork embroidery, an intricate and historic art form.
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind expression of liturgical fabric art. It's designed to reflect the sacred story being told within your space.
A Life Shaped by the Sacred
My deep connection to the Sacred began as a child in the woods of Maine, where I was drawn to the Divine Presence in all living things.
This awareness continues to guide my work today. While my path has included many forms of creative and spiritual exploration, it is through liturgical textile art that these elements come together most fully. This vocation brings beauty, meaning, and presence into sacred spaces.
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind expression of the sacred story within your community.
Designed for Your Community
With a deep sense of the sacredness of place, I connect the location and identity of a church with vibrant design and color.
Each piece is created in collaboration with your community. I work closely with rectors, altar guilds, or those commissioning a piece for a special occasion such as an ordination or memorial gift.
This collaborative process ensures that the final design is not only beautiful, but meaningful and personal. Each piece is rooted in the life of your congregation.
Crafted to Last Generations
Every piece I create is made to measure and crafted with care over the course of several months.
These are not off-the-shelf items. Each is a custom works of liturgical artistry, created to serve your community for decades to come. With proper care, these pieces are designed to last 50 years or more. They become part of the ongoing story of your church.
I have also developed specialized construction techniques that make altar linens and paraments easier to change and maintain. The Schaeffer Technique supports the practical needs of altar guilds alongside the beauty of the design.
