St. Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church, Provincetown, MA
2020 Installation by Christina Laberge
A green-season design reimagined through the color, texture, and movement of coastal Provincetown.
Shaped by Nature
Created for St. Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church in Provincetown, Massachusetts, this installation draws directly from the surrounding landscape at the tip of Cape Cod.
Inspiration from the Coastal Landscape
Both nature and the natural elements depicted in the church's beautiful windows inspired the design.
The Installation
While the commission called for paraments for the green season, the committee felt that traditional green did not suit the sanctuary. Instead, the design looks to the living elements of the local environment for its palette and form.
With beach roses set against the backdrop of sea and dunes, the resulting frontal reflects both the natural beauty of the region and the artistic spirit of the congregation.
