Christ Church Episcopal, Quincy, MA
2025 Installation by Christina Laberge
The Commission
Commissioned in memory of a long-time altar guild directress, this Easter set was created as a bold and colorful expression of resurrection and new life. The request was for something abstract. Something that would capture the energy and movement of the season.
Inspired by “Now the Green Blade Rises”
Based on the Easter hymn of the same name, the design reflects themes of growth, renewal, and resurrection.
For those of us in northern climates, Easter coincides with the return of spring. Imagery of emerging plants and new life carries deep meaning within the liturgical season.
“The textile artistry of Ms. Laberge is both a craft and fine art to the Glory of God.”
Rev. Clifford R. Brown
Technique & Craft
Created in silk dupioni, the work features extensive bias appliqué alongside couching of metallic gold elements. These techniques allow for fluid movement and layered texture, giving the design both structure and energy.
Bring Your Church’s Story to Life
Each installation begins with listening to your space, your traditions, and the stories that shape your community.
Whether created in memory of a loved one or inspired by the rhythms of the liturgical year, each piece is designed to reflect what is most meaningful to your congregation.
The result is not just a set of textiles, but a visual expression of faith, memory, and renewal within your worship space.
